Why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Developed in the 1920’s as a form of self defense and grappling sport to control and submit an opponent on the ground, BJJ is a viable option for a smaller person against a larger, stronger opponent, especially when it comes to self defense.

Why is It beneficial for my child to train in BJJ?

Teaches disciple, self respect and respect for others.

Builds self confidence through skills learned

Instructors’ approach to “playing jiu jitsu” especially with younger children makes movement and response to technique natural and holds interest and attention.

Gives Child sense of community, acceptance. Being around others “like them”

Is it safe for my child to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? Will it incite violence or violent behavior in my child?

Like with any form of physical activity, there is always the possibility for injury. The Instructors at our schools are responsible for the safety and conduct of their students and monitor their training and activities at all times, and establish a safe training environment.

Children and teens who train in martial arts and especially in Jiu Jitsu, which utilizes non-violent techniques to control the opponent, tend to actually become more confident, calm and focused.

The drills and workouts implemented as part of the training in Jiu-Jitsu also give an outlet for children and teens to expend energy, hurt and frustration in positive and constructive ways.
